Experiments with hunger.

Yesterday I went to fast just as a mark of respect or call it a protest against people not giving due credit to those who deserved. Many times I have had situations where I didnt have food and hunger was with me, I always wondered why hunger causes soo much of damage and is not seen outside. It is one of the most horrible feeling to have. There are soo many people in this world who dont get to eat atleast once a day. There are hunger deaths today in India, even though we have a lot of food stored in the Food Corporation of India store rooms. I feel soo bad thinking of those poor souls who died of hunger :(

Today would mark 74 years of the sacrifice three young men gave for the nation. 74, a number which has no charm like 50 or 75. So today no one in news would talk about Bhagat Singh, Sukh Dev and Raj Guru the three young men who were hanged on this day near Ferozpur near the present India-Pakistan border. These men never cared about religion and fought for the freedom of the nation. Pakistan doesnt care for them as all they care for is their muslim leader zinnah. Indians seem to have forgotten the sacrifice and keep remembering Gandhi. It is definitely an unfortunate thing that people who were not in congress and worked for India's freedom never got the credit they deserve. May be some day they will ....

But today may be I shall show some respect and appreciation for these young men. Today I decided to fast till sunset as a mark of respect. Yeah I know it is not an easy task, but let me test myself how deep is my respect for these men. Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru shall remain in my heart till I die. These are the people whom the young generation should have as idols.

Mike Oren : The Peace Walker

I have always been an admirer of the peace activists here in America. Every one knows that at the present stage no one can stop president Bush from doing what ever he is doing. People still protest war on IRAQ. They have been demonstrating every day even before the War had begun. They have not given up hope.

Today I met this guy 'Mike Oren' The peace walker. He started walking from San Bernadino, California on 21st of September, 2004 and today he reached Albuquerque. He was talking about the uphill walk. Unfortunate that I couldnot donate any money to him, in the present state of my finantial situation :( He mentioned that he would be running for the president in the next elections, well we have to see if the walk (padayatra) of YSR (The present Cheif minister of Andhra Pradesh) which worked for him, would work for this man. But I wish he would have let his plans out later when he finished the walk. Now that he is telling every one, it can be dubbed as a walk for the President. What ever it is, hats off to Mr. Mike Oren. He was also suggesting people to buy silver because there would be a sudden jump or something of that sort in july for in the stock market when he ends his walk.

Photomosaics are patented !!

I have seen this concept of Photomosaic and montages few years ago also I have seen programs like metapixel to create photo mosaics on linux. Then all of a sudden when I see the picture on the wall of the Computing Commons (Computer pod of University of Arizona), I run a search for the programs and found this patent on photomosaics. This forbids publishing photo mosaics !! I cant believe this. Something like this can be patented. No other software can make such a thing and if it does it is illegal. I found this photomosiac gimp-plugin on the net after a short search. It was pretty cool. I couldnt get it to work initially but after a mail to the author, I was able to get that running. Made a mosaic of myself :-D. Now time to make some cool mosaics for large gatherings, I can make this till the patent is granted in India :-D
