Pathetic Water Situation in Andhra Pradesh, India

Few years ago I took a picture (on the left) of a bird in summer in New Mexico, USA. Recently I have seen a picture (on right) in one of the main news paper Eenadu of Andhra Pradesh, India. It is such a heart wrenching scene to see some body having to drink water from the road like this.

I am doing some research to see how I can use rain water harvesting in Andhra Pradesh. I hope I find something economical and implementable on a small scale. If anyone comes around a plan which a single individual can implement efficiently for a small family and is scalable, do leave a comment.

Man shot dead in India and Wife Allegedly raped

From many major news papers in India, i see the news about a person being shot dead and his wife allegedly raped.

It is very disheartening to see such inhuman acts still prevail in India. The idea of using sexual assault as a threat should be very stringently dealt with. One can say it happened in Bengal which is far away from Andhra, but evil is evil and when not stopped it will spread, the best example would be what is happening right now in Pakistan.

The News published :

Nandigram: A marxist who had joined the Trinamool Congress recently was shot dead and his wife allegedly raped last night at Sherkhanchowk on the Nandigram's border with Khejuri, a CPI(M) stronghold in East Midnapore district, the police said. The house of the victim, Shankar Mondal, was surrounded by CPI(M) cadre before he was shot dead and his wife raped, the sources said.

Additional Superintendent of Police Chhoten Lama said Mondal was gunned down at 1:10 am and his wife allegedly raped. He said that both the Trinamool Congress and the CPI(M) claimed Mondal to be their supporter. The victim's wife has been sent for medical tests, he said.

The CNN-IBN Exit Poll - Praja Rajyam - Chiranjeevi

The news is out that the CNN-IBN survey has placed Prajarajyam party of chiranjeevi would get very minimal percentage of approval and hence loose the elections badly.

Let have a look at the history of success of CNN-IBN survey results. They predicted Karnataka Assembly Elections of 2008 would have Congress as the clear cut winner. Here are the results of the actual election.

Karnataka Election Results 08
Elections Result on May 25, 2008
Information Available: - 224/224

Party Won
BJP 110
INC 80
J.D (Secular) 28
Others 7

Some one made a decent analysis of the survey.

Update : Looks like CNN-IBN survey was indeed right on what it has predicted. A very bad show by Praja Rajayam Party (PRP) indeed. I hope they work in a much strategic stance and do better next time.
